Miguel Salas began his love of music playing trumpet after listening to countless hours of Big Band music with his grandparents. He was fortunate enough to be one of the first students of legendary trumpeter and former Jazz Messenger, Brian Lynch. As he got older, he became fascinated with rock/pop music and at thirteen studied with John Stropes, a leading authority on finger-style guitar. With these formative influences he learned to appreciate all musical styles. Regardless of the style of music, Miguel was always drawn to rhythm and eventually gravitated towards drums and percussion, studying with both Tony Ayala and Mike Etteldorf as well as at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music.
